Jason and Joshua

Boy, what an evening!! Zack and I got to go with Annie to the Walton Arts Center for a Joshua Bell concert. He is a world-famous violinist and won a Grammy last year for Instrumentalist of the Year.

But first, we went to Jason’s — an all-time favorite for sure!

At the concert, ready for it to begin!

We were closer than this picture would indicate. I was being surreptitious since I didn't know if we were supposed to be taking pictures or not.

Of course, the pianist was fabulous too! We literally just sat in awe the whole time. I have never heard a violin sound like that. It sounded like what Dove milk chocolate tastes like — smooth and rich. :–) Bell was technically nearly perfect of course, but what really sets him apart is his dynamic, emotional touch. You could tell his violin was like another arm for him, and the music itself was an extension of his soul. It was breathtaking and inspiring!

An interesting side-note, his violin is the Gibson ex-Huberman Stradivarius, made by Stradivari in 1713! I guess when you have an instrument of that caliber, it has its own name. He paid almost $4 million for it!! Go YouTube him — he’s seriously unbelievable. My favorite pieces tonight were Chopin’s Nocturne in C# Minor (his second encore piece), and Fantasy in C Major by Franz Schubert. Gorgeous!!

Mom kept the babies, and I'm so grateful!! It’s a huge blessing to be able to leave my kids with someone who loves them probably as much as I do. And I am also very grateful to Annie for taking us along for such a amazing night! It was definitely one of the top experiences of my life!
